What Podium sees, what it doesn't, and why
Short version: your voice and video never leave your browser. Only your transcript and metrics are stored when you choose to save — and used to generate your coaching feedback.
Audio and video
Your microphone and camera feeds are captured in your browser for levels, optional local playback, and browser-native speech recognition. They are not uploaded to our servers or any third party. When you close the tab, the recording in memory is discarded.
Transcript and metrics
If you are signed in and save a session, we store a row with your transcript text, aggregate metrics (filler word count, words per minute, pause durations), and a reference to the prompt. Those rows are scoped to your account — only you and Podium admins can read them.
Coaching feedback
When you save a session, Podium sends your transcript, chosen focus area, and metrics to Anthropic's Claude to generate the coaching response shown on your results page. The audio and video are not shared — only text. The response is stored with your session so you can revisit it later.
Accounts and streaks
Email and password (or Google OAuth identifier) are managed by Supabase Auth. Your streak count and earned badges live in your profile row. Guest practice works without any of this.
Third parties
- Supabase — authentication, profiles, sessions, badges.
- Anthropic — transcript + metrics for coaching feedback (text only).
- DigitalOcean — hosting the web app and its API routes.
Podium does not use ad networks or analytics trackers.
Deleting your data
Reach out and we'll remove your account and all associated sessions on request. A self-serve delete button is on the roadmap.
